Arts High School Defeats Immaculate Conception (Lodi)

The second day of the Basketball Needs New Jersey Showcase opened up with a game between Arts High School and Immaculate Conception (Lodi, NJ). This tournament was hosted at JF Kennedy High School (Paterson, NJ) and was presented by The Dribble Drop. After trailing most of the game, Arts came back to defeat IC, 47-45.

The first quarter remained close with IC in the lead, 16-11.

IC built on that lead in the second quarter and led at the half, 29-19.

Arts played a great third quarter. They out-scored IC 11-5, but IC still head the lead, 34-30.

With a minute remaining in the game Arts broke the tie and led 45-43. IC’s Kelina Menard tied it back up with :39.7 seconds remaining in the game, 45-43. Arts’ Fredrayah Heyward drew a foul breaking the press and made both foul shots to break the tie with :9.5 seconds left in the game. She finished with 15 points. She is great at attacking the basket and finishing.

IC attempted a last minute shot, but Heyward flew out of the paint and blocked the shot.
