In the second game of the Basketball Needs New Jersey showcase hosted by Kennedy High School (Paterson, NJ) and presented by The Dribble Drop, Newark Tech defeated Notre Dame, 53-33.

The beginning was close with Notre Dame only trailing by four at the half time, 22-18.

Mariah Perez and Erika Porter exhausted themselves on both ends of the court. Both are great at rebounding, posting up and finishing, and passing the ball to the open guard on the outside. They only rested once during the game, which is when they both subbed out simultaneously. Perez finished with 9 points and Porter with 8.

With the posts being so busy forcing each other off the boards the guards from both teams stepped up. Leah Johnson from Notre Dame finished with 12 points, which included two outside shots. Newark Tech’s Zianna Goda had 21 points, which included three outside shorrs aand Kristen Fulford added 12, all of which were from outside the arch.

Newark Tech had a huge third quarter. They out-scored Notre Dame 24-10. They did this mostly by earning steals and finishing in transition.
