Immaculate Conception (Lodi) opened up their season at the Hoops 4 Heart Tournament (formally called Hoops Queen Winter Ball) at Francis Lewis High School in Queens, New York. They defeated Saint Mary’s (Manhasset, NY), 63-60.

St. Mary’s features Kadaja Bailey, who finished with 36 points. Bailey is an extremely versatile guard who flies to the basket. She can finish off either foot with either hand and is great at the up and under. She drew 15 fouls and led her team in points and rebounds.

Immaculate Conception looks like a brand-new team due to graduating their starting center Dani Deoul (George Mason) and combo guards Breyenne Bellerand (James Madison University) and Khay’la Latimer (Dominican College). Jordan McLemore, Kelina Menard, and Jariah Patterson have stepped up to contribute more as rebounders and scorers. McLemore is a floor general who sets up her teammates for shots. McLemore finished with 10 points and 5 assists. Menard is very fast and is good at anticipating the ball for steals. She had 3 steals, 5 assists, and 14 points. Patterson is deadly from the outside and finished with 22 points.

In the second game of the season IC took on Columbia High School and won 56-21. Columbia has a few good offenses that gets the ball moving to everyone. Columbia’s Maia Little had 8 points.

Patterson was leading scorer again, this time with 18 points. Menard followed close behind with 12.
