Dumont High School Defeats Dwight Morrow High School

Dumont High School defeated Dwight Morrow High School, 52-30, in girls’ basketball on December 21, 2017.

Dumont High School plays an aggressive full-court defense. They pressure the inbounder and work to stay in the passing lanes of anyone else who could catch it. All of their players have quick feet and strong hands. Their starting freshman guard, Brianna Perez, is a great shooter and passer. She can hit from the outside, but can also get inside the paint and dish off to open teammates. She has good speed and is a smart defender.

Dumont led at the half-time 26-9.

Dwight Morrow has experienced a few coaching changes over the last few years. This year they are being coached by Kate Drumgoole and her expertise is already apparent on the Dwight Morrow team. Despite being in a rebuilding year they are making progress every game. They are improving in spacing and moving without the ball. Lena Yeo can play any position. She excels at bringing the ball up and looking for opportunities to score, but can also distribute and post up inside. She can also guard any position.

Dumont’s Samantha Howard is a good outside shooter with a quick release. She finished the game with 14 points. Dwight Morrow’s Rayshya Richardson is a strong presence in the paint. She can rebound and score.
