Saddle Brook High School wins their season opener against Paterson Charter, 60-23. Saddle Brook’s senior starting guard, Asia Rivera, leads the team with her poise and positivity. She erupted for a career-high of 30 points.
In the off-season Asia lived on the basketball court. She played AAU basketball where she traveled to play against top players from all over the United States. She trained outside of AAU with strength and skills trainer Lee Harmon, she attended I’mPossible Training sessions, and worked to improve her shot at Dr. Dish at NJ Sports House in Oakland, NJ. When she was not playing AAU she was outside with her older brothers fine-tuning her skills. She also played with Saddle Brook in the summer league in Garfield, NJ.
Asia says some of the goals she hopes to accomplish this season with Saddle Brook are, “to win league games and to earn home court advantage in the first round of the state tournament.”

Saddle Brook’s Ashley Georgevich used her speed and strong dribble to fly up court for fast break layups. For Paterson Charter, Aziza Whitaker did a good job at point guard. She was able to bring the ball up against pressure and worked to distribute it to all of her teammates.
