The Battle in Bergen County’s Top Foul Shooters

The Battle in Bergen County hosted its annual foul shooting competition. This foul shooting competition is free to enter for all interested girls from ages 3rd-12th grade. Each player is given the opportunity to shoot 10 foul shots. If players tie, they shoot a tie breaker of 5 shots each. The highest scores win. The following winners were chosen:

3rd Grade
Morgan Murray from River Edge, NJ won with 5 for 10 foul shots. Despite shooting at a 10 foot rim Murray did a great job at the line.

4th Grade
Kristen Phelan from Tappan, NY, won with 8 for 10 foul shots. Phelan is a guard with a very high basketball IQ.

5th Grade
Leah Harmon from Clifton, NJ with 8 for 10 foul shots. Harmon is one of the best players of her age in the country. She was recently spotlighted by USJN.

6th Grade
Ava Diffley from Pearl River, NY with 7 for 10 foul shots. Diffley is a combo player who can play both guard and post.

7th Grade
Dana Phelan from Tappan, NY and won with 8 for 10 foul shots. Phelan is a great shooter, who can also play the point.

8th Grade
Bri Perez from Dumont, NJ and the North Jersey Blast won with 9 for 10 foul shots. Bri is a great shooter who plays the point. She is also a competitive softball player.

9th Grade
Sofia Battista from Pascack Valley with 8 out of 10 foul shots. Battista is a 6 foot center with a nice shot.

10th Grade
Jaelyn Wohlrab from Immaculate Conception (Lodi) with 9 out of 10 foul shots. Wohlrab is a lightning fast guard who is good at getting to the foul line.

11th Grade
Cerina Dunkel from Pascack Valley with 10 out of 10 foul shots. Dunkel has smart insticts and can play point and shooting guard. This past season Pascack Valley earned their way to the Tournament of Champions.

12th Grade
Khay’la Latimer from Immaculate Conception and Bionca Chambers from New Milford High School both with 9 for 10 foul shots. Latimer is a shooting guard who can hit from anywhere. She is committed to playing for Dominican College next year. Chambers is a strong ball-handler who is great at getting past defenders. She is committed to playing for Felician University next year.
