For many high school Seniors, winning their first state championship is something that they hope to achieve in their final year. For many players, that moment where you gather with your team and hold up the trophy ceases to exist; even for those with the most grit, determination, and talent. With that said, today at Pine Belt Arena, the Manasquan Warrior Senior group of Addie Masonius, Nikki Stevens, Annie Heenan, Stella Clark, and Victoria Galvan each won their 4th state title with the Warriors.

This was the second year in a row that Manasquan defeated High Point as they won this year’s game 66-40. Dara Mabrey led the way with 19 points to lead the scoring. Stella Clark finished with 13 points while Faith Masionus rounded out the top three with 11 points.

It was certainly a special win for a Manasquan program that came within a few plays of winning consecutive TOC Titles last season.

“Today’s win was huge for these seniors,” Head Coach Lisa Kukoda explained. “It is not very often that you have a senior class that went four for four in state title games,” Kukoda added.

If you followed this Warriors team the last few years, you have noticed their ability to play free and loose the entire game. Likewise, Manasquan stuck to the same plan in a game which they were heavy favorites.

“We had so much fun out there today,” senior Stella Clark said.

While Faith Masonius is not a senior, she has been a valuable asset to this Warriors team. For Masonius, the playoffs have been where she has had the most success. The sophomore has begun to play her best basketball of the season throughout the last couple of games. With 11 points today and multiple key defensive stops, Masonius is fully healthy and ready to help lead Manasquan back to the TOC final.

“We know the importance of each and every game this time of year. Getting to the TOC final last season and losing is something that I think about and this season we know we can win it,” Masonius explained.

With the Tournament Of Champions now seeded, Manasquan has received the #2 seed and will play the winner of 6th seeded Bound Brook Vs #3 Red Bank Catholic in the Semifinals.
