If you’re a Shore Conference basketball junkie, this is the night you’ve been waiting for! You want a chance to see multiple Division I players going at it, look no further! An early lead in Class B North will be on the line as No 2 Manasquan heads to the Eck Center to face No 4 Red Bank Catholic. Stella Clark, Dara Mabrey, Faith Masonius, the big three will be on hand and ready for battle. Will the Warriors dominate and make an early statement? Rose Caverly, Katie Rice, and Josie Larkins will certainly have something to say about that.
But don’t forget about the premier matchup down in Ocean County. No 10 Toms River North has been waiting for the opportunity to knock off defending champion Southern Regional and become the team to beat in A South. Tonight, they will get their opportunity on the road.
Here is the schedule for tonight.
Freehold Boro 43, Manalapan 37
Freehold Boro picked up their first win in A North by beating Manalapan 43-37. Sydney Przygoda led the way with a game high 20 points to lead the Colonials to victory.
Marlboro 52 Colts Neck 41
Marlboro picked up a nice win against Colts Neck with a 20 point performance from Jess Broad. Molly Weiss added 7 in the winning effort, spoiling 15 points from Cara Volpe for Colts Neck.
Pinelands 52 at Brick Twp 32
Pinelands picked up their second win of the season behind a game high 17 points from Ellie Sorrentino, who connected on two 3 pointers. Kendall Stadelberger led Brick with 10 points.
No 6 Middletown South 78, Wall Twp 40
Alexandra Balsamo scored 19 points to lead No 6 Middletown South to a 78-40 win over Wall. Freshman Stephanie Mayerhofer had an impressive day, getting into double figures with 16 points. Kayla Richardson added 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists. Haley Dalonzo poured in 11 points. Isla Brennan finished with 10 points and 7 rebounds. Lauren Karabin led Wall with 17 points, and Jenna Karabin chipped in with 9.
No. 5 Rumson Fair Haven 59 at Matawan 41
Hannah Scanlan continues to take over games for Rumson, as her 18 points was the difference for the Bulldogs in a win over Matawan. Megan Volker also added 14 in the win.
Long Branch 37 Ocean Twp 30
Winning the second quarter 13-4, Long Branch picked up a big win against Ocean by holding on in the second half. Hydeinah Moore recorded a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Middletown North 67 Monmouth 49
Middletown North picked up their first win of the season over Monmouth behind a 30 point performance from Senior Hailee Hallard. The Lions put three players in double figures. Kamani Williams scored 15 points, and Kiera Williams chipped in with 14. Bayley Padla and Caleigh McAnuff both added 4 points each.
No. 7 Neptune 70 Freehold Twp 27
Offense came easy for the Fliers of Neptune, as their star Desiree Allen put up 27 points to pull away from Freehold Township.
Holmdel 56 Raritan 42
Christina Antonakakis scored 24 for Holmdel, with 18 coming in the first half to separate her team from Raritan – who saw Lauren Christ have another solid game with 12 points.
No 10 Toms River North 49 at Southern 29
No 10 Toms River North took the early control of A South with a dominating 49-29 win on the road at Southern Regional. Jenna Paul led the way for the Mariners with 13 points. Krystal Hund added 11 points, and Amanda Johnson supplied 10. Colleen Brady finished with 10 points and 3 steals for the Rams. Lauren Cruse added 6 points and 6 rebounds. Anna Spaschak scored 6 points both coming from three pointers.
No 3 St John Vianney 52 Red Bank Regional 22
Kimi Evans paced SJV to an easy win against RBR with 18 points, as the Lancers continue to impress early in this season. They will play crosstown rival Holmdel next.
No 2 Manasquan 66, No 4 Red Bank Catholic 62
No 2 Manasquan used a series of plays over the final 1:32 to clinch a 66-62 victory over No 4 Red Bank Catholic. Junior Dara Mabrey exploded for a career high 33 points on 11-20 shooting with 3 three pointers. Faith Masonius posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore Lola Mullaney added 7 points. Carly Geissler finished with 5 points. Josie Larkins led RBC with 26 points and 6 three pointers. Tia Montagne added 13 points, and Katie Rice poured in 12.
