Pt Boro Mid Fielder Julia Conway announced on Saturday that she will be headed to Moravian College. Conway, a defensive standout, had 3 goals and 2 assists and helped lead the Panthers to a 16-4-1 record this season.
“It was a tough decision for me. I had a few schools on my mind. But I’m really happy with the choice that I made and I’m excited to attend Moravian next Fall,” Conway said.
After winning multiple Class B South division championships and a state sectional title, Julia is grateful for the people who helped give her the opportunity to play at the collegiate level.
“I want to thank all the coaches that taught me how to play and believed in me. I give a special thanks to Gary Murray, Marc Urbealis and Mike Edolo for all they have done to help make this day possible. I would also like to thank my parents for supporting me throughout this entire process,” Conway expressed.
After spending time reflecting on her choices, Conway knew that Moravian would provide her with the opportunities to grow both academically and athletically.
” I made my choice based on the quality of the school. I wanted to go to a place where I would be challenged in both settings, in the classroom and on the soccer field. That’s ultimately why I chose Moravian,” Conway explained.
Conway was also aware of the challenges that are present when making the transition to the next level.
“It’s definitely going to take some time to get adjusted, especially from a fitness aspect. Although one of the best things about being around a lot of other girls who are committed to playing at the college level is that we all push each other fitness wise,” Conway said.
While Julia is certainly excited about the next chapter of her life; she will miss playing with all of her Pt Boro teammates.
“This team [Moravian] is a tight knit group. They were all super welcoming. I’m certainly looking forward to spending more time with them. But one of the hardest things will be having to leave the girls behind that I’ve been playing with for so long,” Conway said.
Moravian College has traditionally been known for their programs in both Men and Women’s Soccer. The Greyhounds compete in the Landmark Conference, part of NCAA Division III athletics.
