There was plenty of Shore Conference baseball action as division races started to tighten up. Here are your scores and results from Thursday April 21st.
Point Boro 13, Manchester 2
Point Boro swept the season series from the Hawks with a 13-2 win on the road. Mike Falconetti pitched 4 innings in the win. Josiah Giddon went 2-3 with 3 RBIs. He also pitched the 5th inning. Bill Feehan went 3-4 with a double, and catcher Sebastian Severio went 2-2 with 4 RBIs on the day. The Panthers improved to 9-0 on the season with the win.
Brick Memorial 13, Toms River North 12
Brick Memorial has continued to make the A-South race more interesting by the day. The Mustangs scored 13 runs to sneak by Toms River North. Nick Stephan picked up his first varsity victory helping the team to a 9-2 mark on the year. Brick Memorial took a 6-0 lead with runs in the 1st 4 innings before Toms River North tied it up with 6 runs in the 5th. Brick Memorial won the game in the 7th inning as the Mustangs put up a 3 spot. Nick Reyes and Tim Santiago led the team in RBIs as they each scored 5 and 2 respectively.
Toms River South 9, Jackson Memorial 8
Toms River South has been a presence all year in A-South and they continued to shine once more today. The Indians improved to 7-3 and the Jaguars dropped to 5-3 as Toms River South was able to edge Jackson Memorial. Trevor Wagner was able to pick up the save as he secured the final two outs in the win. Tyler Wisnewski was 3-4 with 2 RBIs on the afternoon including the game winning double to secure the game.
Matawan 12, Long Branch 0
Matawan has been one of the hottest teams in the Shore Conference as of late. The Huskies shut out the Green Wave this afternoon to earn their 5th win of the season and improve to 5-3. Long Branch suffered their 6th loss of the season and dropped to 2-6 on the year. Adam Elliot fired a complete game 5-hitter as he controlled the contest from the pitching mound. Elliott also had a sensational day at the plate going 1-2 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs. Brandon Rivera drove in 4 RBIs as he went 2-4 in the win for the Huskies.
Point Beach 21, Asbury Park 5
Point Beach was able to bounce back from a tough week in B-Central with a divisional win. The offense was alive and well for the Gulls, who scored 3 runs in each of the first 3 innings of the ball game. Chris Russo got the win for Point Beach. He was able to strike out 9 batters in his 5 innings of work. An RBI single by Ryan Franzoni, an RBI double by John Nista, an RBI double by John Vanschoick, an RBI triple by Tanner Smith, a two-run home run by Vincent Storino in the first inning, and an RBI single by John Vanschoick during the second inning supplied the early offense for Point Beach as they played on top throughout the game.
Brick 2, Lacey 0
Tito Morales threw a complete game as the dragons were able to pitch a shutout behind their defense. John Prato went 1-3 with an RBI and a run scored as well as Trevor Rowe driving in a run as well.
