The Bulldog Challenge makes up the schedule for Sunday. Come on down to Rumson Fair Haven and watch the Shore Conference take on some of North Jersey’s best competition. Middletown South opens up the showcase at 11 with a game against Newark Tech. The highlight of the day includes a great matchup between Manasquan and Gil St Bernard.

All games are played at Rumson Fair Haven High School.

No 5 Middletown South 60, Newark Tech 47

Middletown South improved to 10-1 on the season by picking up their fifth straight win over Newark Tech. Junior Alexandra Balsamo scored a game high 18 points to lead the Eagles. Stephanie Karcz also got into double figures with 14 points. Haley Dalonzo added another 12 points as the Eagles really dug in after falling behind in the first half. Middletown South used an 8-0 run to take a 43-35 lead before finally pulling away. Abbey Lawrence led Newark Tech with 17 points. Ny-Asia Anderson also chipped in with 16 points.

No 7 Red Bank Catholic 52, Ramapo 39

Red Bank Catholic made a tremendous comeback to hand Ramapo their first loss of the season. The Caseys trailed by as much as 11 points in the third quarter, but were able to use their heart and toughness to walk away with the win. Junior Maureen Coakley had a monster day, leading the team with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and hitting 12 free throws. It was Coakley’s dominance on the glass that rallied the team in the fourth. Sophomore Josie Larkins finished with 9 points, 3 steals, and 3 three point shots. Amanda Hart also chipped in with 9 points and 3 rebounds. Emily Calabrese led Ramapo with 12 points. Karlie Brogan also added 11 points.

No 4 Rumson Fair Haven 60, Saddle River Day 43

The Bulldogs came up with their seventh win a row by defeating Saddle River Day 60-43. Rumson Fair Haven led 22-19 at the half, and then used a 21-11 run in the third quarter to cruise to a 17 point victory. Senior Stephanie Lesko led the way with 18 points. Lesko scored 11 out of 18 in the second half. Sophomore Tori Hyduke also got into double figures with 14 points. Junior Hannah Scanlan turned in another dominant performance in the paint, posting a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Nicole Morris also chipped in with 9 points. Dani McMahon was the leading scorer for Saddle River Day with 17 points. McMahon nailed four three pointers in the loss.

Gil St Bernard 51, No 2 Manasquan 44

Gil St Bernard got back on the winning track with a 51-44 win over Manasquan. The Knights were coming off a loss to Baldwin, NY. Junior Alexia Allesch continued to put up big numbers, finishing with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Allesch has been averaging 15 points per game during the early part of the season. Senior Sam Kramer had a solid day, adding another 12 points. Both Gil St Bernard and Manasquan were dealing with injuries as Lauren McBride and Dara Mabrey did not play. Freshman Faith Masonius led the Warriors with 22 points. Stella Clark chipped in with 11 points. Carly Geissler also recorded 6 points.

No 1 St John Vianney 43, Morris Catholic 40

Tina Lebron continued her clutch play for the Lady Lancers, as her three pointer at the buzzer sent SJV home happy! The Shore Conference was 3-0 before Gil St. Bernard’s knocked off Manasquan just before this game. Kimi Evans, who scored a team high 15 points, and Tina Lebron (who finished with 12) made sure that the Shore exited the Bulldog Challenge on a high note!
