Raritan bested Point Boro tonight 17-7. The game was full of possesion changes and big yardage pickups. Scorers included Jordan Smith, Marc Carnivale, Gavin Fresh, and Noah Husak (Point Boro). Christie Rampone of the U.S.A Olympic Soccer Team was honored by the superintendent of Point Boro schools before the game.
Jordan Smith put Raritan on the board with 26 seconds left in the second quarter with a 38 yard touchdown pass from Carnivale to make it 7-0 Raritan at the half. This was Smith’s only TD of the game. However, he made multiple stops on the defensive end of the field. Gavin Fresh then made it 7 with the extra point.
Noah Husak then tied the game with a one yard touchdown run in the third quarter. This gave Point Boro the enthusuasm they needed for the rest of the night. Noah and the Panthers played hard and kept their heads high all game after this touchdown. Colin Ansbach then made the extra point to make it a tie game.
Marc Carnivale ran a QB sneak to break through the Point Boro line and dove into the end zone for a touchdown to make the game 13-7. This was the end to a very long drive that resulted in multiple touchdowns that were called back because of flags. Gavin Fresh made a perfect field goal making it a 7 point game.
The field goal gave Raritan a 17-7 lead and that is how the score would remain for the rest of the game. Carnivale took 3 knees to run out the 1:16 left in the game to lead Raritan to victory over Point Boro. The Rockets will now go on to face number 2 seeded Delaware Valley as they look to reach the finals and knock off last years’ Central Jersey Group II runner up.
