Last season, the Panthers lost a heartbreaking 2-1 decision to Sterling in the Sectional Finals. With a few new additions this season, the Panthers were able to win the South Jersey Bracket and advance into the overall Group Two bracket. The title did not come easy for Pt.Boro as it required a golden goal by Devon Wondolowski in the Semi-Finals as well as a Golden goal in the finals. These dramatic goals sent the Panthers past Cinnaminson and most recently, West Deptford.

This was an exciting game in which the Panthers took a 3-0 lead. The first goal of the day was a goal by Devon Wondolowski. She was able to take the ball up into the box, make a nice move and net the goal that would give Pt.Boro the Momentum throughout much of the game. The second goal came from Robin Firoentino, who was credited with a PK later in the first half. She was able to convert on a strike to the lower right hand corner of the Net.

Kait Settier would be responsible for the the third goal. This is when the offense for West Deptford began to step up and become aggressive. It was on another PK that Gabby Sileo would cash in the first goal of the day for West Deptford. It was at this point that they were able to get back into the game as they would score two more consecutive goals.

The other two goals scored by West Deptford were by Sam Budd who’s header late in the game was able to tie the game at three. This was a perfectly placed ball as it found its way in between the left post and goalkeeper Amye Zalesky. From there the game would go into overtime. At this point the momentum was swayed in favor of West Deptford, as they came back from a 3-0 lead in this game.

The start of overtime was something that was filled with energy. After a couple of minutes into the overtime period, it was Kait Settier who was able to take the shot that was set up by a Devon Wondolwski Cross. Both Kait and Devon have been extremely efficient for the Panthers this season. Those two are of the many reasons the Panthers were able to regroup this season and win South Jersey Group II.

With the Panthers winning the South sectional bracket, they will now move on to the overall group two bracket. After winning the Central Jersey Group II bracket, the Holmdel Hornets will be the next challenge for the Panthers. The Panthers know that this will be a challenge for them as Holmdel is coming off a group II championship last season. At this point, However, the Panthers will loose their home field advantage. This is something that they have had all the way through the four games of the tournament.

That game will take place at a neutral site. NJSR will have you covered on this game as both teams will be looking to advance to the Group II finals.
