With the playoffs right around the corner, the South Jersey Group III bracket features a lot of talent. This section is loaded with tremendous speed and athleticism. Delsea featues two athletes that are headed to D1 programs. Camden certainly knows how to get up the field in a flash. Pemberton also has an elite passer at the Quarterback position. It will be fun to see who will make it down to Rowan for the final!

The Favorite

Delsea – The Crusaders will have the upper hand in this section. Delsea will be going for their third straight sectional title in South Jersey. The team has turned in another impressive regular season with eye opening wins over Timber Creek, Camden, and Paul VI. Dual threat Quarterback Quinn Collins is a real weapon that can do a lot of damage on the field. Fullback Rashan Williams has also been carrying the load all season. Add in a fast and elite defense, and Delsea has the whole package.

The Contenders

Pemberton – This team got off to a 7-0 start before having their winning streak snapped by Cinnaminson this past week. Pemberton comes into the playoffs at the No 2 seed and will be a serious threat to get to the title game. Quarterback Joe Benson has thrown for 1474 yards and 22 touchdown passes on the season. Benson has a big arm and great field vision. Taro Gaither has caught 29 passes for 671 yards and 9 touchdowns. This will be a tough offense for anyone to stop. However, Pemberton does not have the experience playing against teams in this bracket. It will be interesting to see how they compete.

Camden – The Panthers have been tough for anyone to face all season. We already saw Camden take No 1 seed Delsea down to the wire back in September. They also came within five points of Camden Catholic. Quarterback Drew Harris leads an offense with multiple wapons. Terrence Moore has been a big part of the running game this year. The Panthers may be 6-2, but are a team to watch in this bracket. They present a lot of matchup problems for any defense.

Key Underdog

Woodrow Wilson – This is not your ordinary sleeper by any means, but Woodrow Wilson will have a very tough test in the first round. They will head to No 3 seed Camden. Can the running combination of Jelani McCargo and Corantae Brickhouse keep the ball in Woodrow Wilson’s hands? The athletic ability of Aron Lee will also have to come up big to get through this one. This will be a game to watch as both defensive units will have to step up to the plate. The teams’ will also meet again on Thanksgiving Day.

Will Delsea meet Camden again?

I can tell you for sure, this is one that many fans on both sides would love to see. Delsea Head Coach Sal Marchese would have to prepare hard for a significant battle. Delsea held on 25-19 in the September meeting after Fullback Rashan Williams powered his way into the end zone with 1:18 left. Camden then drove the ball all the way down to the goal line, where Delsea prevailed after a tremendous defensive stand. This would be the opportunity that Camden has been waiting for.  NJSR will take a look at the bracket overall!
