In 2014, it took the Panthers the entire season to win five games. This season, the Panthers have already registered their fifth win.

The latest victory was a 26-21 triumph over the Central Regional Eagles. Although the Panthers came into this game with a 4-0 record, this win was by far the most impressive of them all.

Trailing by 14 going into the half, it looked as if the Panthers were in for a season changing loss. A loss that would have had them losing to the Eagles for the second straight year. However, this time it would be a different result.

The offense would get going as well as the defense which would finally hold Mike Bickford. The Panthers D was able to hold Central late in the game proving that defense is the common theme to the season. Their Defense has propelled the Panthers to a 5 game opening winning streak. Oh yeah, Noah and Nathan Husak may have something to say about that as well.

Both Husak brothers were able to effectively take charge in this game. It was Noah Husak who was able to even the score at 7 in the first quarter after Mike Bickford scored on a 46 yard TD run. Noah scored on a 1 yard keeper.

Nate Husak scored on a 29 yard TD run later in the game as the Panthers pulled within 7. Finally it was Noah Husak once again who gave the Panthers the lead in which they would never look back.

On this momentum gaining victory, Noah Husak said, ” It is amazing, we are in the drivers seat for B South and it is the greatest feeling ever.” The Panthers knew what a win friday evening would do for them. It not only got them though half the season without a loss, but perhaps showed many people that the Panthers are here to stay.

Coming into this game, Pt Boro Kicker Colin Ansbach said ” We just have to play as if we are in practice, beating Central was all we were thinking about this week.”

The Panthers are still tied with Lakewood for the top spot in B-South. However, as the Panthers inch toward their first playoff birth with this Senior class, it is important to know that a game with Lakewood still remains on the schedule. This could likely decide B- South, a position not many people thought they would be in!
