Here are the scores from an exciting Saturday around the Shore Conference.
Middletown North, 40 Marlboro, 14
Middletown North QB Donald Glenn accumulated 217 yards passing in this game en route to a 40-14 victory over Marlboro. Running Back Conner Welsh contributed in a big way with two touchdown passes to put the Lions up 27-0 before the half. It was also a big night as two punts were blocked in the endzone which led to a two touchdown swing for the Lions.
Manasquan 28, Monmouth 14- See game report for extra details
Parker Day contributed with two rushing TDs as Manasquan was able to take advantage of Monmouth Regional turnovers late in the game. DaMaso Jamie had a 77 yard TD reception. Jamie also returned an interception 65 yards for a score. Adam Schreck was able to recover a fumble in the 4th Quarter that would prove to seal the game for the Warriors.
Keyport 27, South River, 12
Ky’Sun Pryor was able to give Keyport the early lead in the first quarter on a 25 yard run. In addition, Christian Smith was clutch with his leg converting from both 20 and 12 yards as Keyport had the slim lead going into half time. Senior Desmond Underwood also had a big game as he was able to score on a 2 yard TD run to give the Red Raiders a 26-12 lead which would be the final score with the extra point.
Asbury Park 20, Metuchen, 15
Davon Thompson had a big performance in this game with his 32 yard TD pass. The Pass to Jaedon Stephens was a big 4th down conversion in the third quarter that was able to sway the momentum in favor of the Bishops. Overall, Thompson was able to throw for 148 yards. His rushing and throwing abilites kept the Spotswood defense off guard. The Bishops took the lead and never looked back.
Shore 7, Spotswood, 3
Both teams scored in the second quarter as Shore was able to edge Spotswood. Matt Pennell was able to connect with Duke Russo for a 37 yard TD pass as that would be the difference in the ball game. Both defenses were on their game. Conner McCloskey scored the only points for Spotswood as his 37 yard FG cut the Shore lead to 4. However, shore was able to hang on for the victory as not much else was able to be converted from Spotswood.
Mater Dei Prep, 25, Newark Collegiate Academy Charter, 0
Mater Dei Prep was able to jump out to a 2-0 on the season this afternoon. Taking a 13-0 lead in the locker room, it was QB Kyle Devaney who was able to find Eddie Lewis at the end of the half. Sealing the deal for the Seraphs was Shane Mastro, who took a forth quarter INT back for a TD. Both the offense and the defense were able to click in this one as the Seraphs were able to pitch a shutout even with some turnovers throughout the game.
Lakewood , 25 Pinelands, 8 7PM
Amir Tyler was able to take a 87 yard TD back for a touchdown as the Piners never looked back. Jones was also able to complete a TD pass to Raquan Butler early in the game as Lakewood established a 12-0 lead. Glenn Brown had an interception. which was the key turnover in the game on a 4th and 10 for Piners. Zyhier jones was also able to establish the passing game early on with a 60 yard strike to Jaqel Hunter. The Piners are now 2-0 on the season.
