NJSR Player Of The Week

NJSR Player Of The Week

Ocean Twp Running Back Tyler Thompson is the NJSR Outstanding Player for Week 1.  Thompson opened the 2015 campaign in a huge way, rushing for 177 yards and 3 touchdowns. Thompson had touchdown runs of 71, 14, and 10 yards. Two of the scores came in the 4th Quarter to seal Ocean’s 34-28 victory over Neptune.

Many people were unsure whether Thompson would play at the same level again. The running back suffered a heartbreaking leg injury back on Nov 1st against Red Bank Catholic. Thompson spent this past year going through an intense rehabilitation program. He wanted to make sure that he would be back and better than ever. Well, not only is Thompson back, but he really helped get Ocean off to a great start!

Thompson would also step up and make a huge impact on the defense.  He had a stellar performance with 15 tackles and a forced fumble. You could really see the intensity level as Thompson opened with the first big hit of the game. The crowd rushed to their feet and were full of excitement.

Ocean Twp has now entered the NJSR Top 10. We look forward to seeing Tyler have a fantastic season.  Keep in mind that Thompson has six Division I offers that include Syracuse, and Virginia.

The NJSR Player Of The Week is determined by Ryan Wydra, Jim Rosa, and Sean Martin.
